Question: Does underage drinking lead to alcohol addiction?

Underage-below the age of 21
Drinking-alcohol consumption
addiction-being drunk 5-6 times per week on average

Youth Drinking Leads to Alcoholism (Opposing Viewpoints from Library)
The drinking age is beginning to get lower and lower. The writer is very angry about it because all they do is talk about how low it is and the percentages of each grade. It continues to talk about that the alcoholism is growing after childhood and therefor is a sign that the kids who drink during high school are often continuing to consume more alcohol after college.

Underage Drinking Increases the Risk of Alcholism (Opposing Viewpoints)
Kids below the drinking age of 21 are more likely to develop a dependence on alcohol during their lifetime. It is only a 10% chance for people aged 21 and up if they start drinking then. But for the kids below 21, the percentage goes anywhere from 25% to 40% of kids who develop a dependence of alcoholism.

There was a survey conducted and it showed that there was a habit of people who drank before the age of 21 were more likely to be alcholics sometime in there life. About 53 total percent of the people tested were said to have drinken before they were 21 and are now alcoholics. Of the people who waited till they were 21, only about 10% of them are alcoholics.

I Started Drinking as a Teenager (Opposing Viewpoints)
In this essay, Brian talks about how he started drinking as a teenager. He goes on to tell about all the problems he developed and how he became an alcoholic. He seems very sad and depressed while writing this knowing he made a mistake.
